Eco-architecture is not just for the hippy anymore. Even the materialistic, stylish, money hungry, SUV driven consumer feels they need to do their part in saving the world. They might not recycle but buying a sustainable house seems to be all the rage.
So what is sustainable design you ask? Remember the word eco or green? They are now called sustainable design. The goal of it is to reduce the environmental impacts during production of building by using recycled building materials, add alternative heating source like solar panels, and even using recycled water through rain collectors. These stand-alone architectures are popping up all over place. You now don’t have to worry about them shaped like a boat or stuck in a tree like the old weird prototypes of the 80’s and early 90’s. They now come in user-friendly contemporary designs. If you wanted a prefab house with eco amenities you don’t have to look far because they are churning these house out like hot cross buns.
